An OOC Statement to our greater community.

a note from one of our founding community members

Dear Friends,

Wednesday, September 16 was a crazy day for our community.  We know a lot of people felt like they had the rug pulled out from under them.  Our neighboring region, Niseru, which held Lake County, was sold with what seemed to them to be no warning, and if you weren’t in the right place at the right time to hear the sim owner on record with LindenLabs say that he could only handle so much drama, then yes it was an entirely unexpected shock. In Character – it’s just simple enough to say it was a seismic disturbance. Colorado and New Mexico don’t get earthquakes often, but when they get them they are a surprise.

The owners at large did not know there was a pending sale until it was too late for any of us to put in a bid and everyone had been told to get their belongings before the new owners occupied the region.  This left people feeling adrift, abandoned, and in a world where RL has enough crisis going on between natural disasters and a pandemic, horribly cut off and alone.

We are more than just one region though – 6 weeks ago we became a greater community with two other regions joining with Niseru.  This means you’re not cut off and alone despite potentially feeling like it… Lake County’s community spirit lives on, and when LL allows us to buy more regions, if we’re able to and there is a need for it, we will expand.  In the meantime  – folks are moving over to the Lincoln County NM and Montana North Regions.  The community names are Cloudcroft and Bozeman, we also have Ruidoso, Mystic Lake, & The Lincoln Forest – making it 5 regions out of two.  Bozeman and Cloudcroft remain our main towns.

A ride on the train will help you understand better if this is confusing. Each of these communities/regions actually has a train station, and any new sims we add will have train stations as well, physically connecting us.

Some facts you may have questions about:

  • Our era – current modern

  • Our theme – a little more rustic than you may be used to, but it’s still 2020 – no special clothing unless your job requires a uniform.

  • Do we have metered rp: Currently no.  This will be a community decision when it is made.

  • Do we expect storylines and plot and whodunnits while we remain family-friendly? Yes.

  • Are we adding more houses as many are already rented out?  Yes.  We’re working as fast as we can.
  • Economy: Uses RolePay system – your account from before still works, but you will want to get a new bank card.

  • Community Services:  We have a Sheriff’s dept and an under-construction hospital.  We will expand and have EMS, FD, & a functionings School ASAP.  This depends on time to get the buildings in and then folks to fill those roles.  We also will need a County Clerk who will process birth certificates, track court cases and be your location to pay “taxes/tickets” – all in roleplay money of course.

Our ownership team is as follows:

  • Founding Members:  Jaime Morrison & Dr. Morrigan Horten

  • Equity Members: Leroy Horten, Sarah Horten, Bellalina Bellisserian & Cristal Troubador

Bella and Cristal will be helping with day to day running, Leroy and Morri will continue as we have, Morri is our Sim’s Project Manager, but if you come to her with an issue, you might find you’ve been asked to work with Leroy, Bella, Cristal or Sarah.

Sarah’s primary role is making sure the sim is kid-friendly, and she manages Cloudcroft Radio.  She is accepting advertisements for your businesses in the regions and can help you with what you need to do for purchasing commercial air time if you run a business here.

All funds donated/paid in rent to the sim go to helping build the sim further (buildings/roads/scenery/the latest most awesome mesh etc, sim promotion for classifieds, advertisement boards/promotion) or paying for musicians.  We actually help support some of these musicians financially as online performing is their only safe income in the face of COVID-19.  This is where your rent goes – back into the community to make things better for our community.

We encourage you to join us for a community meeting in the town hall in Cloudcroft on Saturday, September 19 at 12pm.  We’ll discuss all the above, community rules, plus how you can fit in and help direct the community.  We are self-governing and our Mayor’s job will be up for election soon.

Everyone has a voice here, and we want to hear yours.

Sincerely,

Dr. Morrigan Horten on behalf of the Ownership team in the LC Associated Sims
